Bookeroo is a booking desk. We do not audition acts, visit their homes, or confirm that a declaration on a profile is true. The parent or the adult who made the booking has to decide whether to let that person into the party.
Checklist
- Ask for the child-workforce check that applies where they work with children. A tick on Bookeroo is not a live search of DBS, Disclosure Scotland, or AccessNI.
- England and Wales: an enhanced DBS check, with barred-list checks where the role is regulated activity.
- Scotland: PVG scheme membership, run by Disclosure Scotland.
- Northern Ireland: an AccessNI enhanced check.
- Ask for a current public liability insurance schedule and check the name matches the person attending.
- Take a reference from another parent, nursery or hall who actually had them in the room.
- Agree the venue, start time, price and what the act includes, using the booking on Bookeroo.
- Meet or video-call before the day if anything feels unclear. Trust that instinct.
- An adult who knows the children should stay in the room. Do not leave an entertainer alone with children.
- Do not hand over extra cash off the booking without writing down what it is for.
- If a child is hurt or you feel unsafe, call 999. Then tell the entertainer you are ending the booking.
What we will not do
We will not send a replacement act, investigate a no-show, or decide who owes a refund. Those conversations are between the booker and the entertainer.
